Archana Rao 2.jpg

Hyderabad based fashion designer Archana Rao takes inspiration from art in all its forms. After graduating from NIFT, she pursued an AAS degree from Parsons school of Design, New York. Studying and working in New York laid the groundwork, which would later set the tone for the brand aesthetic.

The label, Archana Rao debuted in 2012 with Lakme Fashion Week, India  under the gen-next category. In year 2013 Archana Rao won the 'Vogue India Fashion Fund' with cash grant and mentorship from Vogue India. Over the past few seasons, the brand has carved a niche for itself among the fashion romantics with its decidedly feminine designs. She inaugurated her flagship store in Hyderabad in 2015.

The brand’s aesthetic is balanced between structure & feminine sophistication. There is a subtle hint of romance in the usage of fabrics: a dreamy quality, and gossamer weaves. Featuring intricate embroideries and trimmings on a myriad of surface techniques. There is a sense of nostalgia, a free spirited mood that weaves together a classic sensibility through impeccable tailoring.

The beauty of minimal is what inspires our brand and we aspire to be zero wastage. Our new conscious line, to promote slow fashion is designed using the principles of re-cycle and up-cycle. We want to work in and contribute towards creating a world that is respectful and awed by nature in its entirety. The brand doesn’t use any animal based products in their collections and the packaging is eco-friendly and up-cycled fabrics.
